Awarding ceremony of Chief Minister’s Trophy Chess Championship 2015 -02nd December 2015
The awarding ceremony for Chief Minister’s Trophy Chess Championship 2015 was held on 02nd December 2015 at Sabalingam Hall of Jaffna Hindu College.
Hon. Chief Minister of the Northern Province Justice C. V.Vigneswaran participated as chief guest and awarded the winners with certificates, shields and champion cups with the other guests. In this competition; various categories of participant, took part, such as group, male-female.
The competitions were organized with the collaboration of the Provincial Department of Education under the guidance of the Chief Minister of the Northern Province in order to develop the skills of the Northern students. Chess improves the IQ and memory skills of the students. These competitions were conducted in all five districts of the province under divisional level, zonal level and district level.
The students and their parents were very hectic since the date for the final competitions was announced. They practiced hard and enthusiastically participated at the competition. This was the first ever competition which was conducted in a grand scale.
Hon. Minister of Education, Cultural Affairs, Sports & Youth Affairs, Northern Province Mr. T.Gurukularajah, Members of Northern Provincial Council, Hon. P. Ariyaratnam and Hon. K. Sivagiligam, Provincial Director of Education Mr. S Uthayakumar, Additional Provincial Directors, Mrs. P. Selvin Iranijus, Mr.M.Rathakrishnan, Mr. K. Premakanthan, Principal of Jaffna Hindu College Mr. S. Thayanatharaja , Deputy Directors of Education, officers and parents also took part at this event.
